Advertising policy
Genesis may carry clearly identified commercial messages while protecting the independence of its editorial coverage. Advertising does not buy placement in research conclusions or favourable treatment.
1. Commercial separation
Advertisements must be distinguishable from articles through placement, labelling and visual treatment. We do not knowingly accept creative that guarantees health outcomes, uses fear, targets vulnerable readers or presents a medical claim without appropriate substantiation. Products and services are reviewed for basic relevance, but acceptance is not a clinical endorsement. Readers should assess offers independently and consult qualified professionals for health decisions. Advertising partners receive only the information necessary to deliver an agreed placement. Reports about misleading material can be sent to the Genesis contact desk. We may pause or remove an advertisement when it conflicts with policy or law. Decisions and material changes are logged by the editorial office. This policy was issued 1 January 2026 and reviewed 1 June 2026.
Purpose and scope. This policy describes the commercial messages that may appear on Genesis, how they are labelled and which standards they must meet. It applies to display placements, sponsored mentions and any partner listing. It does not apply to editorial links that we add for reference, which are chosen independently. At the time of this review, no advertisement is shown on most pages.
- Display placements and banners.
- Sponsored or partner mentions.
- Not applicable: editorial references.
Scope of the policy. The policy applies to any paid placement, sponsored message, partnership notice or promotional banner that might appear on Genesis pages. It also covers the way third-party advertising platforms, if ever used, may display content next to articles. It does not apply to ordinary editorial references to organisations, which are governed by the editorial policy. Readers can use this page to understand how commercial and editorial material would be kept apart.
- Paid placements and sponsored messages.
- Any third-party advertising platform, if used.
- Editorial references are covered elsewhere.
Labelling and placement. Every commercial message is marked with a visible label such as Advertisement or Sponsored, placed before the content and styled differently from articles. Advertisements do not appear inside article text, within the first paragraph, or in a way that imitates a headline. On mobile screens the label remains readable and the placement does not block navigation or the cookie choice. Readers should always be able to tell what is editorial and what is not.
- Label placed before the message.
- Distinct visual treatment.
- No placement that interferes with reading or navigation.
Current status. As of 2026, Genesis does not run advertising networks, sponsored articles or affiliate programmes. The site does not receive payment from equipment makers, clinics or training providers for coverage. If this status changes, the change will be described on this page with a date before any commercial content appears. Readers will therefore always be able to check whether the site carries paid material.
- No ad networks or affiliate programmes at present.
- No payment for coverage received.
- Any change announced here in advance.
Acceptable advertisers. We consider organisations that offer lawful products and services relevant to adult readers, such as training facilities, educational courses, events or equipment. Applicants provide company details, a contact person and examples of the planned creative. Acceptance depends on content, not only on payment, and may be declined without detailed explanation. Approval is not an endorsement or a safety assessment.
- Legal registration and contact details required.
- Creative reviewed before display.
- No implied endorsement by Genesis.
Labelling rules. Any commercial message would carry a visible label such as Advertisement or Sponsored, placed above the content and using text that is readable by assistive technology. Labels would not be hidden in footnotes, written in low-contrast colours or replaced by vague words. Sponsored content would use a layout that differs clearly from articles, so that no reader mistakes it for editorial work. The sponsor name would appear in the label.
- Visible label above the message.
- Sponsor named in the label.
- Distinct layout from editorial articles.
Content standards. Advertisements must be truthful, specific and supportable. We decline messages that promise outcomes, use exaggerated comparisons, play on fear or embarrassment, or make medical claims without proper substantiation. Content must also comply with Indonesian advertising rules and the policies of the advertising platforms that may deliver it. Before-and-after imagery, pressure tactics and artificial deadlines are not accepted.
- Claims supported by evidence on request.
- No outcome promises or fear-based messaging.
- Compliance with applicable law and platform rules.
Acceptable advertisers. Advertisers would need to be legally registered, identifiable and operating lawfully in Indonesia. Their messages must be accurate, must be consistent with their own website and must respect Indonesian advertising ethics and consumer protection rules. Genesis reviews each submission against these criteria and may ask for supporting documents. Acceptance of a message does not mean that Genesis has tested or endorsed the product or service.
- Registered and identifiable advertisers only.
- Accurate claims consistent with the advertiser website.
- Acceptance is not endorsement.
Restricted categories. Categories that are prohibited or heavily restricted by Indonesian law or by platform policy are not accepted. This includes content relating to age-restricted goods, unlawful products, deceptive financial offers and dietary or wellness products that make health claims. Advertising aimed at minors or at readers in a vulnerable situation is not accepted. If a category is unclear, we err on the side of caution.
- Prohibited categories declined in all cases.
- Borderline categories reviewed by two editors.
- Targeting of vulnerable readers not accepted.
Restricted categories. Genesis would not accept advertising for tobacco and vaping products, alcohol, gambling, adult services, weapons, unlicensed medicines, products making disease claims or schemes that promise income. Offers that use fear, shame or body-image pressure are also declined. Material directed at minors is not accepted. The list reflects both Indonesian rules and the standards expected by major advertising platforms.
- Tobacco, alcohol, gambling and adult services excluded.
- Disease claims and income schemes excluded.
- No fear-based or minor-directed messages.
Data and targeting. Advertising partners receive only the information needed to deliver an agreed placement, such as page type and anonymous delivery counts. They do not receive names, email addresses, messages or contact form content. Genesis does not allow targeting based on health conditions, and any personalised delivery requires consent through the cookie banner. Details of cookies are in the cookie policy and general handling in the privacy policy.
- No sharing of correspondence or form data.
- No targeting by health category.
- Personalised delivery only with consent.
Claims and substantiation. Any performance or health-related statement in an advertisement must be supported by evidence that can be shown on request. Words that promise certain outcomes, such as guaranteed results, are not accepted, and neither are before-and-after comparisons that imply typical results. Statements about price, availability or quality must be factual and current. Genesis may remove an advertisement that cannot be substantiated within 5 working days of a request.
- Evidence available on request.
- No outcome promises or typical-result implications.
- Removal if substantiation is not supplied within 5 working days.
Separation from editorial. Editors and commercial contacts work separately. An advertiser cannot see articles before they appear, request changes or influence which topics are covered. Articles are not written to match campaigns, and a placement does not alter a research conclusion. If a commercial relationship could be perceived as influencing coverage, a note is added to the article.
- Independent editorial decision-making.
- No advance access for advertisers.
- Disclosure when a relationship is relevant.
Editorial independence. Advertisers cannot choose topics, preview articles or influence conclusions. An advertisement does not appear on a page because the page mentions a similar product, and no article is written to support an advertiser. Editors do not receive commission or bonuses linked to advertising revenue. If an advertiser is mentioned in an article, the editor decides on the basis of relevance and evidence alone.
- No advertiser preview or approval of articles.
- No commission linked to advertising revenue.
- Mentions decided on relevance and evidence.
Review, removal and complaints. Advertisements are checked before launch and sampled afterwards. We may pause or remove a message that becomes inaccurate, breaches this policy or draws a justified complaint. Readers can report a concern through contact.php or by telephone on +62 813 5792 4680; reports are acknowledged within 5 working days and investigated within 10 working days. The decision and reason are logged by the editorial office.
- Pre-launch review and later sampling.
- Report acknowledged within 5 working days.
- Outcome recorded in the decision log.
Data and targeting. Genesis does not sell personal data and does not allow advertisers to collect data about readers through its pages without consent. Targeting based on health conditions, disability or other sensitive characteristics is not permitted. If an advertising service needing cookies is introduced, it will be listed in the cookie policy and loaded only after a reader accepts optional cookies. Contextual placement, based on page topic rather than the reader, would be preferred.
- No sale of personal data.
- No sensitive-category targeting.
- Optional cookies only after consent.
Affiliate links and sponsorship. Genesis does not currently earn commission from links in articles. If this changes, links will be marked and described in plain text, and the commercial relationship will be explained near the relevant content. Sponsorship of events or resources will be named on the relevant page, with the sponsor role clearly stated.
- No affiliate links at present.
- Any future arrangement disclosed on the page.
- Sponsor role described in plain language.
Reporting and complaints. Readers who see a message they find misleading, inappropriate or poorly labelled can report it through contact.php, with the page address and a description. Reports are acknowledged within 5 working days, and a decision on whether to keep, amend or remove the message is made within 10 working days. The reader receives a written outcome. Serious concerns, such as unlawful content, are handled immediately and, where required, shared with the competent authority.
- Acknowledgement within 5 working days.
- Decision within 10 working days.
- Immediate handling of unlawful content.
